Abel Tasman Kayaking (Nelson Part 2)

I don't think I'll get tired of saying it was another fantastic day, clear and sunny in the high 20s! Again, the usual stop for coffee, and just as we were about to leave, they brought out fresh muffins, so we needed a second breakfast/pre kayak snack, blueberry/coconut/white chocolate.

Today we got to walk to the low tide water instead of riding on a boat. Our group, in addition to ourselves, included our guide Luc, 3 Danes, and 2 Swedes, all 19 year olds on a gap year. We kayaked out to Fisherman Island where we found a nice beach to stop for morning coffee (Beth had cappuccino) made by Luc. While there we picked some green lipped mussels for later. We then continued around Adele Island, where there were a few seals, and lots of shags.

Our lunch stop was just a few beaches up from where we stopped yesterday, but a bit more secluded. Luc set up the stove, and we had some really fresh mussels to go with our lunch. I'm always a bit skeptical of a tour that includes a packed lunch, but Kahu Kayak made enormous sandwiches, and even included chocolate cake (a bit melted, but still chocolate cake)! We lounged on the beach, swam, and played some Frisbee, as well as exploring the shoreline a bit. Not sure why, but the water seemed a lot warmer today, or possibly we were just warmer from the kayaking and sun.
One of my purchases for the trip was an inexpensive waterproof camera. I'm pretty impressed, given the cost, and glad to have it for the kayaking. This was taken under water.
Even though the forecast for tomorrow is the same as today, we think a museum might be in order to take it easy and stay out of the sun for a day.
